OBITUARY
MR W. H. YOUNG The death occurred in London on March 14 of Mr Walter Hislop Young. He was born in Dunedin in 1870, the son of Mr George Young, founder of the firm of Messrs G. and T. Young, Ltd. At an earlv age he went to Scotland and was educated at George Watson College, Edinburgh He returned to New Zealand and entered his father’s firm. He acted as home buyer for the firm over several periods, resigning in 1919 to join the firm of Messrs A. and T. Burt, Ltd., for whom he acted as London director up to the time of his death. In his younger days in Dunedin, Mr Young was a member of the Pirates Football Club and also of the Otago Rowing Club. Later he achieved some prominence as a golfer as a member of the Otago Golf Club. He was one of the early members of the club. He married Miss Fanny Burt, the second daughter of Mr Alex. Burt. He is survived by his widow, one son and one daughter. During the war of 1914-18 Mr and Mrs Young were living in Edinburgh and many New Zealanders on leave enjoyed the hospitality of their home.
