SMALL LOTS OF WHEAT MARKETS REMAIN STEADY Very little wheat has arrived on the market so far, but the small deliveries that have been received are in reasonably good condition, having regard to the adverse effects of the weather. Fowl W’heat is still in short supply, but sufficient is coming on the market to meet immediate needs. Flour, Bran, etc. Flour: 200's £l3 15s 6d; 100’s, £l4 12s 6d; 50’s, £l4 17s 6d; 25's. £ls 7s 6d. Pollard, £6 15s per ton of 20001 b. Bran, £5 5s per ton of 20001 b. Oatmeal: 2001 b sacks, £25 10s per ton; loose £27 0s 6d; 251 b, packed in sacks of eight. £27 10s 6d. Oats A few small lines of Gartons are making their appearance, and coloured oats, which are realising high prices, are also coming forward. The chaff market remains steady and there are no surplus supplies. Potatoes Sufficient potatoes are coming on local markets to satisfy the demand in the meantime, but it is as yet too early to assess the full damage caused by the floods in South Otago. Seeds Most lines of seed are firm, especially white clover. Montgomery red clover, and high-testing ryegrass. Cocksfoot appears to be holding‘its high value. The export embargo has had a somewhat steadying effect on the lines Involved. Various Commodiiles Wholesale prices are as follows: — Chaff: Up to £7 10s per ton, ex truck. Butter: Bulk, Is Id per lb. Bacon, Is 3d per lb. Price of Eggs The following is the Government-fixed wholesale price of eggs:—Heavy, 2s 6d standard, 2s 4d; medium, 2s 2d; P u “®t. Is 9d; ungraded, 2s OJd; large duck, 2s 3d; small duck, 2s Id; ungraded, Is lljd. The retail prices are as follows:—Heavy. 2s 91d; standard, 2s 7d;’ medium, 2s sd; pullet, Is Hid; ungraded, 2s 3id; large duck 2s 6d; small duck, 2s 4d; ungraded. 2s 2d.
