WAIAREKA EWE FAIR

(Special) OAMARU, Mar. 16

There was a yarding of between 12,000 and 14,000 sheep at the annual Waiareka Ewe Fair yesterday. The demand for all classes of ewes was steady. Some of the sheep offered came from Southland, South Otago, and Palmerston. The top price of the sale, 49s 9d, was paid for two-tooth ewes, other two-tooths bringing from 40s to 455. Ewe lambs brought from 25s 3d to 29s 2d, and mixed aged ewes from 25s to 32s Bd. Four-year-old ewes realised from 32s 1o 32s Bd. and ■five-year ewes from 24s to 28s Gd.
