RED ARMY TROOPS
GREAT DETERMINATION (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) OTTAWA, Mar. 16. Sir Bernard Pares, a British authority on Russia, in a speech at Toronto, said the Russian Army probably had a wider education than any other fighting force in Europe. There was hardly a man under 55 who was unable to read and write. The British man in the street had an almost sacred respect for the Russians, born from recognition of their indescribable suffering and determination.
