OIL IN BRITAIN

OUTPUT OF NOTTS VILLAGE RUGBY, Jan. 2. The Nottinghamshire village of Eakring is a site from which Britain is receiving over 100,000 tons of oil a year—37s tons a day. There are 238 wells in the area, which before the war was a quiet hamlet. When Mr Geoffrey Lloyd, chairman of the British Oil Control Board, inspected the area recently it was stated that about 78,000,000 gallons had been produced since the outbreak of the war.
