ST. KEVIN’S COLLEGE
BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS The annual boxing championships of St. Kevin’s College were held on Thursday night in the school hall. The standard of boxing was h'gh. The referees were Messrs C. Jones and V. Thwaites. In the main bout for the S. Easton Cup, K. Skinner gained the decision, through superior weight and height, from M. Griffiths who won Mr Shanks’s Cup, for the gamest loser. Results:— B. O’Connell beat J. Tither. L. Boyle beat L. Hailes. J. Feeley beat H. O Reilly, K. Munro beat J. Waddell. K. English beat Ross Brown, N. Mcßreeh beat L. Inder, D. Crawford beat M. Mercer, V. Boyle beat C. McDonald. B. Stringer beat B Brosnahan. M. Moynihan beat B. Hart. M. Keen beat R. Brown. W. McCaw beat P. Mcßae, P. Macklin beat A. Morrison, G. Groves beat E. Hailes. C. Cameron beat E. Harper, L. Steel beat G. Tunnell. N. Kean beat J. Colman. K. Skinner beat M. Griffin, P. Davis beat D. Stranding, K. McCartney beat M. Hoffman. M. Welsh beat G. Adamson. Mr Colin Jones (Oamaru Boxing Association) presented the following trophies: Mr Boyle’s Cup (most scientific boxer), L. Steel; Mr W. O'Connor's Cup (most scientific junior). M. Welsh; Mr S. Easton s Cup (championship), K. SJctoncr; Mr Shanks’s Cup (gamest loser), M. Griffin.
