HIGH-COUNTRY PROBLEMS
Mr A. H. Chapman drew the attention of Mr W. Huse (supervising organiser) at the Primary Production Council’s meeting yesterday, to the price for fine wools, stating that the high country men were faced with very serious problems. , , „ Mr J. Kingan quoted the case of a run going out of production through the action of a Government department. They had taken up the matter with the national council, and the abandonment of this run had its effect on production through the loss of 3000 sheep. The rent was £l3O. There was the loss of production from 3000 sheep, which for a mere rent of £l3O was very foolish. Mr Huse informed the council that he would take the matter up with the national council. - ~ , Mr Chapman pointed out that the high country was deteriorating, and Mr Huse intimated that an officer could be sent to investigate the matter, which the council agreed 1 would be a very satisfactory solution.
