VETERINARY SERVICE
MEN FROM OVERSEAS (Special) AUCKLAND, Oct. 16. To meet the growing shortage of veterinary officers in New Zealand, three young men have arrived from Canada and three more will arrive shortly from Britain, says the Dominion Federation of Farmers’ Veterinary Services in a statement. A further seven British veterinarians are being released for service in New Zealand, and will commence their journey as soon as passages are available. Arrangements are being made for interviewing further British applicants. The federation states that new groups considering the. provision of veterinary services should make early application for an officer, as applications will be dealt with in order of receipt. It* is intended to limit the number of veterinarians being engaged from overseas, so that positions would be available on graduation for students being trained under bursaries at Sydney. At a recent meeting of the federation applications for affiliation were approved from the Ruawai and Rata Dairy Companies and the Huntly Veterinary Club, making a total of 14 veterinary organisations now members of the federation.
