AUDACIOUS THEFT
VALUABLES AND FURNITURE REMOVAL FROM HOUSE Goods to the of about £2OO were stolen from the dwelling house of Mrs M. Gray, at the corner of Cameroni and Gilbert streets, New Plymouth, during her absence on a recent afternoon. “I am still discovering the loss of other articles,” said Mrs Gray, describing what had happened. There was no sign of any damage having been caused in the process of getting into the house, and it is believed, the intruders gained entrance through a window. From the quantity and nature of many of the articles stolen the thieves must have used a vehicle, because furniture, including chairs and mattreses, were among the articles missed when Mrs Gray returned to her home. The intruders operated with care and system, and with some thoroughness Nothing was left strewn about, but wardrobes were denuded of clothing, cutlery and household silver were simply cleaned right out, and a substantial amount of valuable jewellery was taken, as well as some large articles of furniture.
