BOY IN FLAMES

WASHED IN INFLAMMABLE LIQUID (0.C.) SYDNEY, June 13. A Sydney youth, Leonard Francis Morvan, aged 17, who had washed his body and clothes in inflammable liquid, lit a match and burst into flames from head to foot. Before leaving work Mdrvan used an ethyl compound to wash his greasestained clothes and parts of his body. When he reached home he decided to have a bath. He .walked into the bathroom, turned on the gas heater, and struck a match. The inflammable fluid, which had soaked into his clothes, caught fire, and he at once became covered with flames. He ran out of the bathroom and oalled for help. The glare from his burning clothes lit up three other rooms in the house. He then ran back into the bathroom and tried to put out the flames by rolling in a few inches of water in the bath. His father heard his calls for help. As his father ran into the bathroom Morvan’s burning clothes fell in pieces from his body. The father seized a blanket and wrapped it round Morvan, putting out the flames. Moi> vait was admitted to hospital with severe burns to the head, arms, legs, and body.
