RECORD OF £73,701,759 SYDNEY, July 4. The Australian wool cheque for the 1943-44 season was a record at £73,701,759, eclipsing the previous record of £73,553,911, made in the 1942-43 season. Appraisements totalled 3,606,684 bales of wool, compared with 3,501,457 in 1942-43. The appraisal value was £66,850,270, and the average price was 13.9245 d a lb, or nearly 11 per cent, below the United Kingdom Government purchase price of 15.4531 d a lb. This percentage represents a difference of £6,851,489, and thus raises the Commonwealth wool cheque for the season to the record figure of £73,701,759.
