AN AMUSING INTERLUDE
Sir,—l read with amusement the report of the objection of Councillor McMillan at the meeting of the City Council on Monday night, when the Mayor ruled him out of order and refused to accept a motion submitted by him. The Mayor stated that the motion was in direct contravention of a standing order. Councillor McMillan tried to circumvent the ruling by the Mayor, but without success. It is Interesting to recall that Dr McMillan, as chairman of the Hospital Board, ruled a member of the board out of order when he tried to present a motion to the board. Dr McMillan ruled on similar lines to those adopted by the Mayor, and said that his board was not competent to deal with the matter. Mr Reid, on his part, tried at the meeting of the Hospital Board to circumvent the ruling of the chairman, also without success, and was told to sit down. The Mayor, I am sorry to say, did not go as far as this with Councillor McMillan. —I am, etc., Boomerang.
