Mr J. H. Frater has been elected chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board. He has been deputy chairman for the last two years, and chairman of. the Finance Committee for three years. Passengers who left for the north by airliner on Saturday were Miss Thomas, Mrs T. S, Mann, Mr W. A. Johnson and Mr J. E. Greenhalgh, for Christchurch, Mr land Mrs A. Tyrer and Mr D. A. Ewen for Wellington, and Miss V. M. Kelly for Auckland.
Messrs E. A. Cameron, G. A. Hamilton and H. P. Mclntyre were nominated as the southern district representatives on the electoral college of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board at a recent meeting of the committee of the Gore Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Tire district comprises the counties of Clutha, Southland, Wallace and Stewart Island. Commissioner W. R. Dalziel. of the southern command of the Salvation Army in the Commonwealth of Australia, has left New Zealand on his return home. During his brief visit to New Zealand he travelled more than 2700 miles, 1700 miles in the North Island and 1000 miles in the South Island. During that time he visited Salvation Arrr.v institutions and delivered addresses in all the cities and .principal towns.
