ADVANCE IN ITALY IMPORTANT NEW GAINS (Rec. 1 a.m.) LONDON, June i 6. The Allied forces in Italy continue to advance on all fronts, and more big gains have been made. The Germans are withdrawing on the Adriatic sector, and only slight contact has been maintained with them. The Eighth Army has taken the important road junction of Terni, and has advanced a further 25 miles to capture Todi. North-east of Lake Bolsena, the Fifth Army has pushed on 10 miles north of Orvieto, while on the coast several more towns have been taken. The Allies are now well north of Orvieto. The Eighth Army, advancing in the Orvieto area, captured Bagnorea after two days of stubborn fighting. Fifth Army troops, by the capture of Magliano, 12 miles to the north, have completely cut off Orbetello from the main German forces retreating to the north. The Americans west of Lake Bolsena have reached Pitigliano. The

French in the Lake Bolsena area also continued to advance. The German News Agency stated that Allied tanks operating from the Orbetello area penetrated the Grosseto area, 23 miles north of Orbetello. The Germans yesterday evacuated AquaEendente, eight miles north-east of ake Bolsena.
