HUNDREDS OF CASUALTIES
BEACH SECTOR NEAR VIERVILLE LONDON, June 12. The Daily Telegraph says that hundreds of American'assault troops lost their lives gaining the mile and a-half beach sector near Vierville, during the landing on Cherbourg Peninsula. An army major said that about 750 bodies were recovered from a sandy beach subsequently. High tides probably washed away an equal number.
