BOARD’S COUNTRY SERVICE
At the Waitaki Electric Power Board meeting yesterday morning Mr D. E. Neave inquired as to the position regarding the board’s house at Duntroon, and the closing down of the service there. There had been a certain reaction against it, he said, especially in the case of charges for certain repairs. Mr A. R. Tait, chairman, said that the house had been let, and there was no intention at present of returning the staff there. Mr J. Newlands inquired whether additional charges were being made on account of having to send, a man out to attend to repairs. The engineer (Mr N. A. Davidson) replied that the staff tried to work a circuit, and whenever necessary the staff could be placed either at Kurow or Duntroon to work there for a day or days. He asked that any specific cases in regard to charges be referred to him for investigation.
