REACTION IN BOUGAINVILLE

GREAT ENTHUSIASM (R.N.Z.A.F. Official News Service) (Rec. 11 p.m ) BOUGAINVILLE, June 6. The first news of the Allied invasion of France came in an announcement made to-night during an R.N.Z.F. camp concert at Bougainville. The announcement was greeted with ths greatest enthusiasm by the New Zealanders and Americans, the men whistling, cheering, and clapping it in moments of unrestrained exuberance, and the common remark was, “ Flat out now, boys.” All the men look forward to the day when the Nipponese empire can be dealt the same blow as Hitler’s Europe. The Allied attack is an inspiration and at the same time an indication of what every man looks forward to In the Pacific war.
