Vicc-Itcgal On Saturday morning the GovernorGeneral, Sir Cyril Newall. received Mr C Falconer chairman of tile National Council of the Young Men's Christian Association of New Zealand. In (he afternoon their Excellencies, attended by Major H. A. .Taffray and Flight Lieutenant H. A. Eaton, left Wellington for Auckland.
Mr J R- Howie, produce manager for Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., at Auckland for the past 14 years, has been appointed manager of the company’s Timaru branch.
Mr and Mrs R. W. Carr, of 77 Forth street, Dunedin, have received oflieial advice that their son, Pilot Officer A. K. Carr, has been promoted to the rank of flying officer.
Passengers who left for the north by the airliner on Saturday were Mr 11. J. Guthrie, Mrs A. Shield, Miss R. E. King, Mrs D. Fuller, and Mrs Churchman for Christchurch, Squadron Leader M. H. North, Mr E. Hirchfeld, and Mr Flemming for Wellington, and Mrs R. Wilson for Auckland.
