COLD AND SHOWERY Forecast for Otago.—Tire following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours was .issued at sp.m. vesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Strong south-westerly winds; weather cold, changeable, and showery, with snow in the high country. Further Outlook.—A gradual Improvement. Weather in Dunedin.— Variable weather was experienced in Dunedin over the week-end. Saturday morning was dull arid overcast, but the sun shone brightly during the afternoon, and temperatures were mild, there being an almost comDlete absence of wind. Yesterday morning was bright and warm- with a light north-westerly breeze. Conditions deteriorated rapidly shortly after mid-day. however, and a strong westerly souall, accompanied by a fairly .heavy shower or ram, passed over the city, but thereafter conditions improved again, although the sky remained moderatelv overcast. The barometer, after remaining steady during Saturday, fell sharply yesterday, the midnight reading being 29.15 in (987 millibars).
