COMMUNITY SING
There was another large audience at tile Strand Theatre yesterday for the weekly community sing. The Minister of Defence, Mr F. Jones, and the Mayor-elect, Mr D C. Cameron, who were present, congratulated the organisers and extended good wishes lo them. The songs included many popular numbers, and Miss Doris Wilson and Mr Lloyd Spears sang duets. The proceeds were for parcels for servicemen. The following contributions were received: —"Anonymous,” £5 (weekly); “ Gore,” " Worry,” Crippled Lady (St. Kilda), "Anonymous,” £1; “Ruby” (Airman’s Hymn), Bridge Circle (Caversham), "Anonymous,” M. F,. Torry (Beaumont), 10s; “J. B.” (St. Kilda), Mother of Four Soldiers, ss. Flowers and goods: Vedic, Miss Artlett, Mrs J. C. McGeorge (all weekly); St. Kilda Wcllwisher, Gran (Christchurch), Mr J. B. Hislop, Mrs Wilson (Seacliff), Mrs Marton (Ross Home), Mr Orlowski (Waihola), Mrs Smail, Mrs Hellyer, Miss McLeod, and Mrs Moody. The collection realised £2l.
