OTAGO CENTRE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The annual championships of the Otago Centre of the Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand were commenced in the Concert Chamber last night. The results were as follows; — Marches (boys and girls under 16 years).—Billy Boyle 1, Duncan Cormack 2, Lang Morton 3. t Highland Fling (girls under 10).—Noeline Bickan 1. Lois Allan 2, Thelma Harvey 3, Valerie Trainor and Corallie Illingworth (equal) 4. Irish Jig (girls under 15).—Daphne Baxter 1, Isobel Gray 2, Shirley Harvey and Betty Thompson (equal) 3. Sailors’ Hornpipe (girls under 12).—Mary Frame 1. Kathleen Eunson 2, Nelletta Tobin 3, Elsie Erskine 4. Sean Truibhais (boys under 12).—David Munn 1, David Edwards 2, Barclay Smaill 3. Sword Dance (girls under 18). —Betty Thompson 1, Beckie Smith and Daphne Baxter (equal) 2, Shirley Smith and Norma Stewart (equal) 3. Sean Triubhais (girls, open).—Norma Stewart 1, Jessie Brown 2, Waveney Musson 3.
