COAL SUPPLIES
AUSTRALIAN PRODUCTION MEASURES TO MEET SHORTAGE (Rec. 7 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 2. Measures to meet the Australian coal shortage have been announced by the Acting Prime Minister, Mr F, M. Forde. Extension of open-cut working of coal seams where practicable is expected to be the chief means by which the stepping-up of the coal output will be attempted. Additional supplies of coal will be shipped to Victoria, where stocks are very low.
