WAGE COSTS ALLOWANCE

STATEMENT BY MINISTER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Apl. 18.

Referring to the recently-announced wage costs allowance for dairy farmers of 1.21 d per pound butter-fat, the Minister of Agriculture, Mr B. Roberts, in a statement to-night said he desired to clear up an apparent misunderstanding. The Minister said that the allowance of 1.21 d, which would apply from August 1 next, was a payment additional to the farm costs allowance of 0.767 d, and the factory costs allowance being paid during the current 1943-44 season, the. intention being that these allowances should be continued for the 1944-45 season.
