CRITICAL PHASE

PRAYERS FOR LEADERS AND TROOPS (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Apl. 18. “On behalf of the bishops of the Anglican Church in New Zealand, I express the hope that the opportunity will be taken in the Anglican churches throughout this country of joining with our brethren in England in a special prayer for our leaders and troops in this critical time,” said the Primate, Archbishop West-Watson, in a statement issued to-night. The statement related to the recent announcement that the Archbishops of Canterbury and York had recommended a special day of prayer and dedication on Sunday, April 23, in Anglican churches, with special reference to the critical phase of the war which had now been reached and the testing experiences through which the Allies would have to pass.
