Mr P. Neilson, M.P., will not return to Dunedin from the north until the end of next week.
Mr N. E. Dalmer has been appointed head of the textile section of the Ministry of Supply, in succession to Mr R. F. Franklin.
Lieutenant Ken W Paterson, 4th Field Regiment, M.E.F., the eldest surviving son of Mr and Mrs H. L. Paterson, has been promoted to the rank of captain. Mr and Mrs W. J. Domigan, of Lumsden have received word that their elder son, Pilot Officer L. J. Domigan, R.A.F., has been promoted to the rank of flying officer.
Passengers for the north by air yesterday were Mrs G. R. Ritchie for Christchurch, Mr and Mrs A. W. Millard, Mr and Mrs A. Tyrer, Mr D. J. Russell, Mr Carter, and Mr Jessop 'for Wellington, Mr W. Garrett and Mr H. Sinclair for Auckland. Passengers who arrived by the afternoon plane were Mr G. H. Wilson and Mr B. Colt from Auckland, Mr G. Stanton from Blenheim, Mrs Hefford, Mrs Shepherd, Miss M. MacDonald, and Miss T. Murray from Wellington, Mrs C. Thom, Mrs Radburnd, Miss J. Ellis from Christchurch.
