ATTACKED BY NAVAL PLANES RUGBY, Apl. 4. j The Admiralty states that naval aircraft carried out a successful bombing attack on the German battleship Tirpitz in Alten Fiord, Norway. Several direct hits were obtained. Tirpitz, which is stated to have a displacement of 35,000 tons, was attacked by British naval aircraft on March 9, 1942, and retired under cover of a smoke screen towards the Norwegian coast. In October last year midget submarines crippled her in Alten Fiord.
