DISTRICT QUOTA EXCEEDED

BY £81,583 Last week no fewer than 11 towns in the Dunedin postal district obtained their national war savings quotas, the successful places being Dunedin, Alexandra, Bannockburn, Clyde, Heriot, Kaitangata. Lawrence, Palmerston, Roxburgh, Tapanui, ‘ and Waikouaiti. The figures in resnect of the district itself at the end of the financial year on March 31 totalled £393,063, which was £81,583 in excess of the annual quota. The figures in respect of those towns which were also successful in reaching or exceeding their annual quotas are as follows: Dunedin: Annual quota. £222,456; total investments, £321,263; surplus, £98,807. Balclutha: £8320, £11,554, £3234.. Clyde: £1248. £3525, £2277. Heriot: £1924, 2958 £34. Lawrence: £3120, £3157, £37. Miller’s Flat: £1456, £1832, £376. Tapanui: £2288, £2829, £541. Waikouaiti: £2964, £3377, £413. Wanaka: £1196, £1926. £730.
