RACING NEWS By Sentinel ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT

“Form,” Dunedin. —Courtdress won two races last season, and followed with two seconds in eight subsequent starts. This season Courtdress has been placed twice in six starts. In his last start Courtdress 8.7 was second to Sir Saladin 7.10, being beaten by five lengths and finishing a length in front of Carpos 7.8. The margin between Courtdress and Carpos has been increased from 131 b to 241 b—far too much. At the Dunedin summer meeting Courtdress 8.6 and Bridgehead 8.2 were both unplaced in the Waihola Handicap. At the Vincent meeting Courtdress 8.2 finished in front of Bridgehead 7.9, and at the Beaumont meeting the margin has been increased from 71b to 191 b. It seems to have been overlooked that Bridgehead trained off after winning at Invercargill. Dearo’s placed form at Gore reads better than that of Confidant, who has not been placed since he won in 1941. Bridgehead is considered a better horse than Divorced.

Acceptances for the Beaumont meeting are due to-day. Acceptances for the Riverton Racing Club’s meeting are due to-day. Tara King has come into favour for the Easter and Autumn double. Glenfalloch is booked to go out of training. and may not be produced again until next season. Owing to the lack of transport, there will be no racing on the West Coast at Easter. It is reported that Lambourn wa3 so badly injured when running in the Hawke’s Bay Cup that he will not be able to race again. It is to be hoped that the mishap to Macedoine does not leave such serious results as originally feared. The payment of a big price for a horse deserves better luck. Mr A. M. Pope, of Wellington, has purchased the yearling colt by Broiefort from Saxony, the dam of Saxon Tor and Saint Tor, both good winners. Saxony was got by Hunting Song—Saxon Saint, bv Hallowmas—Formless, by Multiform. Tire colt belongs to a good line of winners in Noctuifornr, Midnight Sun, Nightfall, Wakeful, and others.
