OFFENSIVE SWEEPS

LIGHT COASTAL FORCES RUGBY, Mar. 29. The Admiralty states that during an offensive sweep in the vicinity of Ijmuiden early this morning, light coastal forces of the Royal Navy encountered and attacked an enemy convoy proceeding under an escort of R-boats. In a brisk action several R-boats were damaged by gunfire. All the British ships returned safely to harbour and suffered no casualties. Light coastal forces penetrated within two miles of Dieppe, and attacked a convoy of three small ships escorted by four R-boats and an escort ship of medium size. At least one R-boat was extensively damaged. Later heavy explosions were heard from the direption of the convoy. All the British ships returned safely, some having suffered a number of casualties.
