HOLIDAY TRAVEL
POSITION OF NURSES (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 30. “It is not within my province to instruct railway officers concerning travel permits,” said the Minister of Health, Mr A. H. Nordmeyer, in reply to an urgent question by Mr W. A. Sheat ’ (Oppn., Patea) and Mr E. P. Aderman (Oppn., New' Plymouth) in the House of Representatives to-day. He added that a statement had been widely reported that he as Minister of Health had instructed the railway permit officers that no priority was to be given in respect of nurses desiring to travel during their holidays. That was not correct.
“ Nurses in certain circumstances may have special claims for consideration, and I have, in fact, represented this to the appropriate quarter,” said the Minister. “ The decision concerning railway travel permits, however, is essentially one for the railway authorities, who will treat every application cn its merits.”
