OWAKA SALE
The National Mortgage and Agency Company reports having held a sale at Owaka on Tuesday, when 2500 sheep and lambs and 100 head of store cattle were offered. The demand for store stock was good, local and South Otago buyers competing keenly for all classes of sheep, while the cattle sale, considering the outlook for fat cattle, was a very sound one, a complete clearance being made. The following were the principal sales; Four-shear Romney ewes. 275; f.m. Romney ewes, 18s 3d to 20s; f. and f.m. ewes, 12s to 16s 6d; failing-mouth ewes, 7s to 9s 8d; medium two-tooth ewes, to 32s 3d; medium Romney-cross ewe lambs. 24s 3d to 26s 3d; cull Romney-cross ewe lamOo, 15s 6d; good rape lambs. 18s to 20s: medium wether lambs, 15s 6d to 17s 7d; small wether lambs. 11s 6d to 13s 7d; medium m.s. lambs, 18s to 20s; small m.s. lambs, 13s 6d to 15s 6d: two-tooth wethers, to 20s; fat lambs (good), 30s; medium fat lambs, 23s to 24s 9d; best two afid a-half year steers, £9 9s to £9 15s; medium do. £7 19s to £8 10s; 18-month steers, £6 15s to £6 19s; yearling steers, to £6 Is; cows and calves, £4 10s to £8; two and a-half year heifers, to £6 15s.
