SMALL YARDING OF CATTLE (P.A.) INVERCARGILL. Feb. 29. Some exceptionally good lambs were included in the entry at the Lorneville sale to-day. Best sorts realised from 30s to 32s 9d. The greater proportion of the yarding consisted of light-weights and these sold from 21s 6d to 245.
Fat sheep showed little or no change on last week’s quotations. Good quality wethers realised from 31s 6d to 33s J 6d, medium 29s 6d to 31s, and lighter and unfinished 26s to 27s 6d; good quality young ewes, 17s 6d to 19s 6d; medium, 15s 3d to 17s; and freezing qualities, 13s 6d to 15s 9d. The fat cattle yarding of 56 head was one of the smallest on record. As a result values improved by £1 10s to £3 compared with last week. Prime heavy bullocks made up to '£l7 17s 6d, good medium £l4 to £ls, and lighter £lO 10s to £l2; prime heavy heifers, to £l4, good medium £lO 10s to £l2, and light and unfinished £8 to £9; prime heavy cows, up to £l2 10s, good sorts £9 to £lO, and unfinished £7 to £B. Best runners made up to £9, and good vealers from £4 to £5.
