NOTES FROM RICCARTON

(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 21. Two novices provided interest in a School over five hurdles. Gay Fort again gave a very attractive display, while ms mate, Full Pitch, though out-jumped, showed great improvement on his earlier efforts. . . . Chiding showed signs of soreness last week, but she was on the track this morning, and has apparently recovered from the trouble. C T Wilson intends to go south next week, carrying out an arrangement he made some time ago t‘o ride F. Shaw s team at the Winton meeting. He will also ride at the Banks Peninsula meeting, while he may be at Gore the following week in preference to Trentham. F A. Roberts has returned from the North Island, looking in improved health after his holiday. During his absence M J. Wadley had charge of his horses. John Gay and Bascule will be nominated for the Wellington meeting next month. First Note may have a similar programme, but in his case it will depend on how he progresses, as his teeth have been causing trouble. • Arustra is having a rest. She is partial to soft ground, and may resume racing at Easter. W Barr has five horses in work. He will race Northern King and Lynden Lea next week. Roman Son and Lady Burnett (half-sister to Rebel Lady) will be ready by Easter, while Kilcato is doing only road exercise yet. Gamble and Nurnie are striding out well in their work, and R. Wilson expects to race them next week.
