GALE IN AUCKLAND

HEAVY FALL OF RAIN (P.A.) V AUCKLAND, Feb. 21. A north-easterly gale which swept Auckland last night and this morning was accompanied by torrential rain, the fall for the 24 hours to 9 a.m. being 1.31 inches. The rain then eased off. The rainfall for the 21 days of February is 3.97 inches, which is substantially greater than the total of 3.20 inches for the preceding two months.
