BOARD OF GOVERNORS’ MEETING The first monthly meeting of the year of 'the board of governors of John McGlashan College was held on Thursday evening, when the vice-chairman, Mr James Begg. occupied the chair. The convener of the House Committee (Mr J. D. Fletcher) reported that the buildings were in good order, but that it would be necessary to purchase more crockery and linoleum when it became available. . Mr A. C. Cameron (convener of the Grounds Committee) said that during the vacation the lawn tennis court had been repaired and was now in excellent order. New drainage had been put acting-headmaster, Mr T. S. Holme, reported that while there had been fairly heavy withdrawals at the end of the year, the number of new pupils admitted had brought the roll up to last years figure, while the number of boarders had increased. The examination results, especially in the matriculation form, had been verv good indeed, passes being secured by ‘7O per cent, of the entrants. High marks had been secured in some of the subjects. One of the Sixth Form pupils, J. B. McCaig, had gained a National BurSa i7'was reported that there had been a few staff changes. The chaplain and science master, Mr P. Anderson, had resigned in order to take up parish work. Mr J. Williams was again taking over the science work, and Mrs A. H. McLintock was joining the staff. Mr J. Tipler was entering the boarding house as resident master and part-time teacher.
