Organ ReclJtil.—Mr L. H. Goddard gave the first of his weekly series of organ recitals for 1944 in the Hall of Memories at Waitaki Boys’ High School yesterday. The programme consisted of Fugue, “ Sanctus Dominus ” (Boely); Largo, from the ** New World Symphony ’’ (Dvorak): choral prelude, the hymn-tune, " Irish (Kitson); and hornpipe, from the “Water Music ” (Handel). Thomas Bracken.—Mr Bernard Magee, of Oamaru, yesterday received cabled advice that 2BL, Sydney, will broadcast his script of the life of Thomas Bracken at 5.5 p.m. Australian summer time, or 6.5 p.m. New Zealand summer time, on Sunday. Mr Magee’s script, which was recently broadcast from 2YA, Wellington, was written in commemoration of the centenary of the New Zealand poet’s birthday in December last. «The Old Ship.”—This goes to show that it is better to stick to the old ship than try to float a new one,” commented Mr N. H. Colquhoun at the meeting of the Oamaru Returned Services’ Association on Tuesday night, when he referred to the fact that 110 members of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. were among the 600 odd members of the Oamaru Association. Civil Claim.—At the Magistrate’s Court, yesterday morning, Mr I-I. W. Bundle. S.M., gave judgment by default for the plaintiff in the civil claim R. Brown and Co v. J. B. Galvin.
