THE LAND SALES ACT
Sir,—Level-headed men and women, from that section of the community the number of which have a real stake in this country, will have no sympathy for those returned soldiers who are suffering under the Land Sales Act. It is a case of the " biter bit,” and there is in the cases recently discussed in your correspondence columns a certain quality of cold justice not unpleasing to those who cast their votes against Labour. The Labour Government was defeated on the civilian vote, only to be saved by the vote of the ” boys ” overseas. The “ boys ” (as democracy is pleased to term them) acted upon a selfish and shortsighted policy of self first. If they are now reaping the first fruits of a harvest different from that which they expected well, they have themselves to blame. A n d—there is surely more coming, much more by way of reward from a " grateful ” party. To use a vulgar expression —one can foresee quite an account of " stewing in self-grease ” being done oy the " boys ’’ who were so eager to keep “ex-objectors” In office.—l am, etc.. Right Front. Dunedin, February 8.
