KINDERGARTEN’S CONDITION

RECOVERY FROM SORENESS (Special) WELLINGTON. Feb. 8. Kindergarten has made a complete recovery from the soreness which affected him during the running of the Wellington Cup three weeks ago, and though he Is having a fairly easy time at present, he is hitting out quite freely in what work he is given. For some time Kindergarten has had a slight filling on one of his forelegs, but it has responded to treatment and his trainer, P. Spratt, says the champion is sounder to-day than he has been at any time since his arrival at Trentham. , . Owing to the transport restrictions it is unlikely that Kindergarten will be taken to New Plymouth at the end of the month for the Taranaki Stakes, a race he won last year, and his next appearance in public probably will be the North Island Challenge Stakes, to be run at the Wellington March meeting. Kindergarten has won this race for the last three years in succession. The New Zealand Derby winner. Tara King, who was prevented from fulfilling his engagements at the Wellington Cup meeting through bruised forefeet, is at present located at Porirua, where he is being exercised on the beach and taking advantage of salt water treatment. No programme has been planned for Tara King, and his autumn activities will depend upon how he fares on his return to active work at Trentham.
