By Sentinel Desmond’s Pride, the brother to Certissimus, is in work again. Unsoundness caused the interruption in his training. Since the declaration of final forfeits for the Great Northern Trotting Derby, Bel Hamed and Scottish Emperor have been scratched. Bell Globe is the name claimed for the two-year-old filly by Brilliant Globe Bellawah. engaged in the Great Northern Stakes. She will race in the interests of Mr T. B. Smalley. Bexley’s Pride is another name claimed since final payments were made. This is a filly by Josedale Grattan—Bexley Girl, and is owned by Dr Mf G. Pezaro and Mr E. G. Bridgens. prominent members of the Auckland Trotting Club. Imperial Lady, the half-sister by Gamble to Gold Bar, and Acropolis, by Dillon Hall from Seaworthy, are expected to dispute favouritism in the Great Northern Trotting Derby, to be run on Saturday. Both were shaping well in their work prior to being taken to Auckland. The two-year-olds Golden. Imp and Bohemian are booked to meet in the Great Northern Stakes, to be decided on Saturday. Both youngsters have been shaping promisingly in their work. Golden Imp is a sister to Gold BSr, and Bohemian is a chestnut colt by Lucky Jack —Parisienne, by Key de Oro—Yenot, by Harold Dillon—Rothschild mare, second dam Bessie B, by Young Irvington. The breeding of Young Irvington is interesting, as he sired Dolly, the dam of Ribbonwood, the first horse to break 2min lOsec on this side of the world. Lucky Jack has a dam with thoroughbred strain. Young Irvington was got by Irvington from Black Bess, a daughter of Telegram, by St. George, a brother to Chester, who won the Melbourne Cup and Derby. St. George sired Loyalty, the winner of the first Challenge Stakes, and Bonnie Scotland, a -winner of the A.J.C. Derby. St. George proved himself a valuable addition to New Zealand’s bloodstock. Gold Bar was got bv Grattan Loyal—lmperial Gold, by Rey de Oro— Imperial Pointer, by Logan Pointer—lmperial Polly, by Prince Imperial from Polly, a said to be thoroughbred. Prince Imperial was go* by Hambletonian Bell Boy from Princess, by Dexter (a son of Traducer) from a thoroughbred mare. Hence two of the most interesting youngsters who are to have their first race on Saturday have thoroughbred blood at the base of their pedigrees. N
