(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Jan. 11. Wethers dropped in value compared with the last sale at Lorneville to-day, but prices for ewes were well maintained. There was a good entry of fat lambs, but competition was limited. There was an easing tendency towards the end of the fat cattle sale compared with the concluding sale of last year. Fat wethers were about Is to Is 6d cheaper. Values for ewes were fully maintained. Prime / quality mediumweight wethers sold at from 35s 6d to 375; handy-weights, 31s 6d to 335; light and unfinished, 27s to 295. Good quality ewes brought, from 26s 6d to 28s 6d; medium, 24s to 25s 6d; unfinished, 21s to 22s 6d; aged and inferior, 17s to 18s 6d. Fat lamb values were in keeping with the export schedule rates. Extra heavy lambs brought up to 335; good quality, 27s 6d to 295; light-weights, 23s 6d to 255.
Prime quality bullocks realised from £l7 10s to £l9; small, £lO 15s to £l2. Good quality medium-weight heifers sold at from £ll to £l2 10s; light-weights, £9 15s to £lO 10s; medium quality cows, £9 10s to £lO 10s; unfinished, £7 10s to £8 10s; inferior, £4 10s to £6.
