AMERICAN SUBMARINES
TEN ENEMY SHIPS SUNK (Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 7. United States submarines have sunk 10 more enemy ships in the Pacific and the Far East. A Navy Department communique lists them as follows:—A large freighter, a mediumsized transport, a large tanker, five medium freighters, and two small freighters. A Pacific Fleet communique reports that Seventh Air Force heavy bombers struck at Taroa Motje last Thursday. No fighter opposition was encountered. All the bombers were undamaged.
