AIR COMMANDERS

APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED (Rec. 9 p.m.) RUGBY, Jan. 8. The Air Ministry announces that Air Marshal Sir John C. Slessor has been appointed deputy to General Ira C. Eaker, air commander-in-chief of the Mediterranean, where he will command all the R.A.F. units under General Eaker. The appointment of Am Chief Marshal Sir W. Sholto. Douglas formerly air commander in the Middle East, as Commander-in-Chiei, Coastal Command. R.A.F., is also announced. Air Marshal Slessor has commanded Coastal Command since November, 1942.
