WOMEN’S BOWLING

ALEXANDRA TOURNAMENT (Special) ALEXANDRA, Jan. 7. The first tournament held by the Alexandra Ladies’ Bowling Club was commenced yesterday. The weather was hot, the temperature being 86 deg. in the shade. The president, Mrs H. Kemp, welcomed the visitors, and said it was hoped to make the tournament nn anndal fixture. The Mayor. Mr A. McKellar. also extended a welcome to the visitors. Mrs Mullinger, representing the Otago Ladies' Bowling Association. expressed good wishes to the club for a successful tournament. Play was then commenced in the pairs competition, which by the evening had been advanced to the semifinal stage. The results were as follows; — Section L—First game; Mrs Lister (St. Kilda) 18. Mrs H. Kemp (Alexandra) 14; Mrs Hamilton (Alexandra) 23. Mrs Roberts (West Harbour) 12. Second game: Mrs Kemp 12, Mrs Roberts 6; Mrs Hamilton 15, Mrs Lister 14.
