“CHRISTMAS CHEER” FOR PATIENTS AND PRISONERS
Sir,—The Patients and Prisoners’ Aid Society Is again making its annual appeal for funds to provide a treat and gifts for patients in Wakari Hospital and Pleasant Valley Sanatorium, and for those In the Mental Hospital at Seacliff and at the branch, Orokonul Home, Waitatl. To this number are added prisoners who may be in Dunedin Gaol at Christmas and the dependents of those who are serving sentences elsewhere. Readers outside of Dunedin should take into consideration that patients at Wakari and Pleasant Valley come from all parts of Otago, and the territory covered by the ■ Mental Hospital includes the whole of Southland and Otago. For this reason we look for a generous response to our appeal, not only from Dunedin friends, but also from sympathisers in other cities and towns and in the country districts. Here is an opportunity to bring cheer Into the lives of some 1400 needy folk who will appreciate a kindly remembrance at the festive season. We know that there have been many appeals made to the public during the year, but we are confident that your readers will be willing to assist us in our annual effort to bring joy to those who are in less fortunate circumstances than ourselves. Donations should be addressed to the secretary, Patients and Prisoners' Aid Society, 21 Crawford street, Dunedin, and will be acknowledged by an official receipt.—l am, etc., Alex. Steven, ( Agent for the Patients and Prisoners’ Aid Society. November 26.
