FOOTBALL AND SHOOTING NEW ZEALANDERS’ SUCCESS CN.Z.E.F. Official News Service) (Rec. 8 p.m.) CAIRO, Nov. 24. A new mobile kinema van, built at a cost of almost £2OOO by money subscribed by motion picture exhibitors throughout the Dominion, has arrived in the Middle East for use in the New Zealand Y.M.C.A. The interior of the van is a complete kinema > projection booth, equipped with all the apparatus for screening comparable with that of any city theatre. Several succcessful trial screenings have been made, and the unit has now taken its place with the four other mobile kinemas which the New Zealand Y.M.C.A. has in action. New Zealand marksmen gave a good exhibition to win the international contest on the Abbessia range, their total points being 542. South Africa was second with 516 points, the Capetown Highlanders were third with 454, and the Royal Egyptian Bodyguard fourth with 437. Gold, silver, and bronze medals, inscribed with the royal Egyptian coat of arms and a donation by King Farouk were presented to the first three members of each of the nine-man learns. Following the shoot, which was under service conditions, the teams were entertained at a buffet dinner at the range, and later at a cocktail party in the officers’ mess and in the palace by King Farouk, who also took part in the shoot as a member of the 'Royal Bodyguard team. Wearing the familiar black jerseys for the first time this' season, a New Zealand Rugby team, picked from base units, defeated a strong South African side by 40 points to 3, avenging the first-of-the-season loss at the hands of the Springboks. < It was undoubtedly New Zealand’s day, for the second base team defeated South Africa's number two side by 52 points to nil.. After leading by three goals to one at half lime, a New Zealand Association football team scored in the last minute of the game to draw with a tSouth African base team, five goals each. Play was fast and open, and well up to New Zealand provincial standard.
