MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held on Thursday afternoon, and was attended by Messrs S. P. Cameron (vice-president), in the chair, J. R. Fairbairn, W. S. Thomson, R. T. Kirk, K. Clark, A. H. Templeton, H. M. Driver, G. Masters, and W. Lee. The chairman expressed the regret of members in learning of the illness of the president (Mr J. Young), and it was decided to write expressing the hope that he would have a speedy recovery. A welcome was extended to Mr Masters, who was attending the committee meeting for the first time. Reference was made to the deaths of Mr Robert Allison, Mrs William Gardiner (wife of an ex-life member), and Mrs Watson Shennan. A motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried. A resolution was carried extending the congratulations of the committee to Mr Walter Yardley, a member of the committee, who had been awarded the Bledisloe Medal for 1943. The Membership Committee reported that anplications had been received from the following for membership of the society Messrs D. O’Connell (Dunedin), P. O. Smellie (Dunedin), W. E. Wilhelmsen (Mataura), T. Irving (Dunedin), T. Burnside (Pukekoma). D. B. C. Allin (Ravensbourne), J. Geddes (Green Island), D Anderson (Dunedin), and D. H. Blackie (Dunedin). —On the motion of Mr Fairbairn, these members were-elected. The Finance Committee recommended accounts for payment amounting to £425 5s lid. The bank balance was in credit £1229 9s, and it was decided that £SOO of this be transferred to the National Savings Account. Statements of receipts and payments for the horse parade showing a debit balance of £3O 9s 6d and of the light horse show with a credit of £ll 12s Gd were approved. , The lease of the Brydone Hall to Messrs Dalgetv and Co. and that of the Agricultural Hall to Messrs Stronach, Morris, and Co. for the 1943-44 wool season were renewed on. the same terms as last year. It was noted that the schedule for the matured and export cheese classes for the 1944 Winter Show had been distributed to dairy factories, and members of the committee were asked to communicate with the factories in their district's and see that entries came to hand. The report of the Grounds and Buildings Committee on minor repair work and further maintenance work required at Tahuna Park was approved.
