AMERICA’S LOSSES IN ACTION WASHINGTON. (Rec. 10 p.m.) Nov. 25. The War Shipping Administration announced that nearly 4800 United States Merchant seamen have been listed as dead or missing in combat action since Pearl Harbour, while 547 are prisoners of war. Nineteen thousand officers and seamen serving in United States merchantmen have been awarded the merchant marine combat bar for active service on ships which have been in direct combat with the enemy.
