SURF LIFE SAVING
ST. CLAIR CLUB”S MEETING The annual meeting of the St. Clair Surf Life-saving Club, held last night, was largely attended. The president, Mr H. H Henderson, was in the chair. The chairman, presenting the annual report, said that 88 members were in the forces in New Zealand and overseas. Great difficulty was being experienced in carrying on tlie work, and in this regard the work of the ladies and juniors was much appreciated. It was hoped to send a ladies* team and a junior team to compete in the New Zealand life-saving championships, which this vear were to be held in Auckland. The standard of efficiency among the ladies, he added, compared favourably with that in any other centre. An invitation to attend the opening of the St. Kilda Club on Sunday was ac-, cepted. and teams are to be arranged for the occasion. The club’s own opening ilav was fixed for the following Sunday. The election of office-bearers lesulted as follows:—Patron, Mr J. McDonald; president. Mr H. H. Henderson; club captain, Mr J. Foster; deputy club captain. Mr J. Reid; ladies’ club captain, Miss W. Dunn; secretary. Miss C. Knowles; treasurer, Mr B. F. Simonsen; committee—Messrs J. Wren, 11. Newall, D. Myles, V. Simonsen, D. Smith. J. Swan, and Miss M. Stuart; delegates to the Otago Swimming Centre, Messrs Reid and Simonsen; delegates to the Royal Life-saving Society, Mr Foster and Miss Stuart; delegates to the New Zealand Surf Association; Messrs Swan and Foster: Selection Committee, Mr Reid and Miss Dunn; instructors—Messrs Reid, Simonsen, and Swan; auditor, Mr M. A. Robson; press steward, Mr Reid; masseur, Mr Smith; property steward, Mr V. Simonsen ’
