OVERWHELMED FROM AIR
ALLIED FORCES ON LEROS (Rec. 1.15 a.m.) LONDON* Nov. 17. Organised resistance on the island of Leros has ceased. It was announced to-day that the British and Italian troops on the island, fighting against odds and against constant air attacks, had been compelled to %ive in. The Middle East communique which gave this news stated, that the Germans yesterday continued their overwhelming bombing tactics. After severe fighting, in which our troops made, a most determined stand against the reinforced enemy, organised resistance ceased in the evening.
