AIRPORT FOR OTAGO

SUPPORT FOR HARBOUR BOARD

At a meeting of the Tuapeka County Council the chairman, Mr W. Cameron, reporting on the recent meeting of public bodies held in Dunedin in connection with an airport for Otago, said that, after hearing the arguments submitted by the various representatives present, it appeared that the action of the Otago Harbour Board in reserving its south endowment for the future development of the Port of Otago was a sound one. As primary producers, they were vitally* interested in the export of their produce, and should see that nothing was done to jeopardise the port's- harbour facilities. After the report hrd been adopted, it was resolved, on the motion of Cr J. Bennetts, seconded by Cr J. George, to forward a copy of the following resolution to the Otago Harbour Board:— ‘‘The Tuapeka County Council supports the Otago Harbour Board and considers that it is in the best interests of Otago to retain the south endowment for Plarbour Board purposes.”
